This course places emphasise on two aspects, namely human health risk assessment and green technology, in the context of environmental pollution. This course provides critical exposure to water, air, chemicals and waste pollutions. Meanwhile, the causes and sources of various types of pollutions and their economic, social and environmental impacts are also explored. For the aspect of human health risk assessment, this course explores the framework and concept of risk assessment, which includes problem formulation, hazard assessment, exposure assessment and risk characterisation. Meanwhile, this course also discusses about option for risk management to reduce and eliminate human health risk. As far as green technology is concerned, the leverage of green technology is emphasised in controlling pollutions through the application of a systematic sustainability concept.

The course provides students with knowledge, skills and experience on the concepts of law and ethics for sustainability towards sustainable development. It covers discussion on the principles, sources and classifications of law, as well as the application of the law in order to achieve sustainable development.
